12 August 2019 -  Nestled in the celebratory weekend of National Day and Hari Raya Haji – the interfaith special dialogue yesterday centered around common fundamentals of good values, commitment and sacrifice of both commemorations. The interfaith special kicked off with a collective 1-minute silent thanksgiving observance and reflections.

Over 250 guests comprising community and faith seniors, grassroots and youth leaders, academia and corporate managers, diplomatic missions and senior civil servants came together to explore the role of religion and spirituality in civic-virtue and nation-building.

In his closing keynote, guest-of-honour and moderator of dialogue, Senior Minister of State for Defence and Foreign Affairs, Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman shared “ It is apt that this event included a minute observance to collectively reflect on and give thanks for the peace and progress that we enjoy in Singapore and as Singaporeans. It is truly important for us to be consciously and naturally grateful for the blessings that we have, and to instill this spirit of gratitude and graciousness in our families, friends, colleagues and most importantly, our next generation. In order for Singapore to continue being strong and free, we need to truly embrace, observe and enliven the two virtues of piety and patriotism. ”

The interfaith special dialogue was presented by Humanity Matters and International Multi-Cultural Organisation (IMC); and organised by WISE SG.
